With a journey to the West Coast in my near future, I'm taking advantage of having my favorite city so close while on the East Coast. New York is one of my favorite places because you can wear whatever you want and no one will judge you for it. In fact, people will most likely hype you up for standing out. Small town VA isn't quite the place to let my style shine, so I took a trip to the concrete jungle to break free.
The Flower of Love
My first look of the city was a kimono-inspired set from Nasty Gal. This satin duo accents a jade background with millennial pink flowers. Not only do my clothes have to match... but my clothes have to match the location, too. Yes, I am that extra. Hannah and I trekked to a small, all pink, Italian restaurant called Pietro Nolita for these photos. To make the pink pop, I accessorized with heart-shaped sunnies from sunglass.la. For a finishing touch, I rocked my favorite FILA chunky sneakers and a straw bag from Forever 21 for a summer finish.
A Step in the Stripe Direction
Since it was the NYC Pride festival when I visited, I sported my second look in celebration. I'm wearing a super comfortable, rainbow-striped set from Free People. This co-ord has been sold out everywhere since last summer, so I bought this fit from my friend Sam and I'm so glad I got it. This outfit was definitely the most comfortable look of the weekend and it photographed beautifully. Since the print was bolder, I accessorized it simply with dad shoes, two gold necklaces, cherry earrings, and cat-eye sunnies.
Wild Thing
For my last look of this post, I took a walk on the wild side. Leopard print is my absolute favorite and I almost collapsed when I found this set. To achieve a more casual vibe with such a bold print, I added a fanny pack and of course, the dad shoes. I wore these sneakers all weekend and my feet worshiped me for it. I walked for miles and my feet didn't hurt once. 10/10 recommend for those of you on the line about the trend. Lastly, I had to add a little touch of glam. I added statement flower earrings from Forever21, cat-eye sunnies from sunglass.la, and my gold name necklace.
NYC style is my favorite because everything is somehow simultaneously bold, yet casual. I took full advantage of this movement for this trip. Don't worry, these three looks aren't all I have for you. I walked around with about four outfits in my backpack at all times, so there's much more to come. Stay tuned for another post featuring more of my street style from the city!
